You can’t make cakes without eggs… or milk… or butter… And Pinkie Pie mentions hot-dog-eating competitions (in a manner alluding to her being most familar with them) in “Fall Weather Friends,” ep 13 of season 1.  The ponies could be classified as vegetarian, but certainly not vegan.  In fact…  Horses are also known to eat small animals, as well - http://www.thehorse.com/ViewArticle.aspx?ID=4327
